ANTHONY NISTOR // TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM

Signalized Traffic Light System

A tabletop town that coordinates a main road, two side streets, a pedestrian crossing, a servo barrier, and lamps that respond to the room.

// SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

How the Intersection Operates

The model was drawn in CAD, simulated as a circuit, then printed and wired so the signals, the gate, and the lamps run together on one Arduino.

  • Multi-phase Signals Separate red, yellow, and green channels for the main street, two side streets, and a pedestrian crossing.
  • Barrier Control A servo raises and lowers yellow barrier arms across the lane in front of the parking court.
  • Sensors Change the Sequence A pedestrian button requests a crossing, an infrared sensor watches the gate, and a light sensor decides when the street lamps turn on.

System Component Breakdown

01

Arduino Uno

The controller used in the TinkerCAD schematic and in the finished intersection.

02

Signal Heads

Printed housings with red, yellow, and green channels for vehicles and a separate pedestrian signal.

03

Barrier Servo

A hobby servo in each gate housing lifts and lowers the yellow arms across the road.

04

Sensors

Pedestrian button, infrared photo-diode near the gate, and a light sensor for the street lamps.
